On Saturday January 13th at 1805 hours, Box Alarm 6-17 was alerted for an electrical fire in a house in the 9100 block of Old Kiln Road. Duty 6 (D.Rosensteel) arrived to find a two story balloon frame home with smoke showing from Alpha and Delta sides on the first and second floors. Duty 6 investigated and performed a 360 to find active fire in the exterior wall of the A/D corner on the first floor with extension into the second floor walls. Duty 6 established Old Kiln Road Command on the A/D corner with Battalion Chief 902 (Morgan) and requested the Rapid Intervention Dispatch. Ambulance 69 arrived with two DFRS personnel (FFI Phan & PFF Mangus) and was requested by command to engage in firefighting efforts with an interior line off of the first in engine and was replaced with A68 staffed with three volunteers. Engine 63 arrived staffed with five personnel and performed fire attack on the seat of the fire in the walls with unit officer (C6-1 J.Click) was assigned Fire Attack Group. Tower 6 arrived with a crew of four who split personnel to ladder and open up the exterior as well as check for extension into the attic with RS6. ET134 and ET104 used nurse tanker operations to supply E63 operating with two cross-lays deployed. ET134 crew were assigned to Division 2 under the supervision of C13-1 (L.Humerick). Fire was quickly placed under control, assignment was reduced to just the initial dispatch and M30 from the RID. Crews operated for approximately 90 minutes performing fire attack, salvage and overhaul. TWR6 remained on scene to assist FM904 with investigation and the homeowner with salvage. Vigilant Hose Company Responded with a total of 23 volunteers.
