On April 9th the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce held their annual Public Safety Awards at the Brunswick Fire Company.

Numerous awards were given to personnel throughout Frederick County's Public Safety system. VHC Captain Alex McKenna was recognized as the Firefighter of the year at this year's event. McKenna was instrumental in the pre-planning of major target hazards in the fire due response area at Mount St. Mary's University. McKenna spearheaded the collection of vital building and system information for every single structure on the campus.

Once the final product was completed and signed off by the Fire Chief the plans were uploaded to VHC's mobile data terminals in the apparatus for easy access in addition to hard copies. For his commitment to both public and firefighter safety we congratulate Captain McKenna on his recognition.
